Middlefield VFW meeting Monday | News, Sports, Jobs – Warren Tribune Chronicle

POST SEEKS MEMBERS: The Middlefield VFW Post 9678 will have its next meeting at 7 p.m. Monday at 16013 E. High St., Middlefield. Annual membership in the VFW is $29.95, but the post will pay for the first year for new members. A social membership for nonveterans is $10 per year. AFTERNOON TEA: The National McKinley Birthplace Museum in Niles will host a tea party noon to 2:30 p.m. May 15. The event will include a small Makers Market with tea and body care products, crocheted items, earrings, journals and bookmarks. To reserve a seat by May 3, RSVP to Belinda at 330-652-4273. Reservations are $30 per person.
TCTC HOSTS COMMUNITY DAY: The Trumbull Career and Technical Center in Champion will host a Community Day 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday. The event will showcase TCTC programs and services and include local businesses and organizations. There will be activities and demonstrations. Food trucks and concessions will be available.
BLOOMFIELD HISTORY: The Historic House in Bloomfield will present the program “The Other Half” at 7 p.m. Saturday and 3 p.m. April 24 at Center Brook Manor, 8745 state Route 45, North Bloomfield. The program includes discussion on the two domestic servant girls who lived in Center Brook when Charles and Julia Brown were there in the 1850s and 1860s. The historic Charles Brown Home off state Route 45 is the place slaves hid on the Underground Railroad.
LIFEGUARD TRAINING: The Jewish Community Center of Youngstown will hold a lifeguard training for ages 15 and older with training 5 to 7 p.m. April 29 and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. April 30 to May 1. The class provides participants with the knowledge and skills to prevent, recognize and respond to aquatic emergencies until EMS personnel arrive. Participants who successfully complete the course receive an American Red Cross certificate. For information, call 330-746-3251
HUBBARD PLAY: Hubbard High School students will present “Once Upon a Mattress: The Musical Story of the Princess and Pea” 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. April 24 at the high school auditorium. Cost is $10 for adults and $5 for students.
RISING UP: Trumbull County Children Services will host the 22nd annual Rising Up and Moving On community luncheon at noon Tuesday at Ciminero’s Banquet Centre in Niles. The event will honor the achievements of families and the dedication of community members. The theme for 2022 is “Planting Seeds of Hope.” Master of ceremonies is Nadine Grimley from WKBN. Rising Up and Moving On awards will be presented as will the Service to Children Award. For information on services, call Michelle at 330-372-2010, Ext. 1343.
OPEN HOUSE: The Niles American Legion Post 106 will host an open house from 6 to 8 p.m. April 25 at their hall, 1027 N. Main St., Niles. All veterans are invited to attend. For information, call 330-652-8818.
